Flashkkit News
Get set to receive the next generation style of news as NBC Internet, Inc. announced yesterday that Flash technology would form an integral foundation of the new NBCi.com broadband portal.
NBCi is a leading portal for broadband and high-speed users, featuring multimedia content. Its navigational service, developed with Macromedia Flash enables users to customise the portal's interface. Flash has also been dubbed the preferred advertising media for NBCi.com.
"Macromedia Flash is the obvious solution to deliver the next generation portal experience enabling us to better engage and entertain our Internet users," said Chris Kitze, CEO of NBCi. "The rich media broadband portal we have created is also an ideal platform for our advertisers who are looking to reach users in a rich, captivating environment."
NBCi worked with Macromedia to develop the "NBCi Dashboard," an easy-to-use control panel with moveable "widgets," with Macromedia Flash 4. The "NBCi Dashboard" provides quick access to the most commonly used services on a portal such as weather forecasts, financial market summaries, and search and directory applications. Using Macromedia Flash, NBCi.com also created the "NBCi Player," a customized multimedia player for viewing video and audio content. NBCi.com has added support to its ad servers to enable tracking ads delivered with Macromedia Flash.
"The depth and breadth of how NBCi.com uses Macromedia Flash on its site raises the bar for what qualifies as a high-impact, online experience," said David Mendels, senior vice president, business development and corporate marketing for Macromedia. "NBCi is one of the most trafficked sites in the world, and we are very excited that they have chosen Macromedia Flash to take their site to the next level."
Lot 21, a leader in rich media advertising, is delivering an online advertising campaign for the Palm VII on NBCi.com using Macromedia Flash. "The targeted audience of broadband users on NBCi.com combined with its preferred ad format of Macromedia Flash was the perfect vehicle for building awareness among current and potential Palm VII users," said Kate Everett-Thorp, president & CEO. "NBCi's broadband capabilities provide us with a venue where we can deliver an impactful experience to optimize our clients' campaigns."
Macromedia Flash is now installed in more than 88 percent of Web browsers, which translates to more than 200 million Web users automatically able to experience Macromedia Flash content. Macromedia Flash is the standard for high-impact, vector-based Web sites that deliver motion, sound, interactivity, and graphics to both high- and low-bandwidth users.
