I am having some difficulty in getting KoolMoves or Flash player to retain a colour. Or I am doing something wrong.

: Overview :

Two lines of text links, and one shape link.

The links in the second line change across frames.

All text links have two states (up and over, with no down state).

Each link moves to another frame in the movie and also loads a page in a frame window.

All were set up as follows:

. Text created.

. Additional Frames created, carrying the text across all frames.

. Properties set to interactive, etc and colours set to:

.. UP: White (255,255,255)
.. OVER: Pale gold (255,255,206) or eggshell, text italicised.

All done in one frame but impacting on all frames (without changing the selection scope, which is at default value, this frame only)

Finally, in each frame where the frame was the destination for the link, the UP state was changed to grey: 128,128,128

When playing, the movie shows all UP colours correctly, and the first text link on the line correctly for the over state.

The properties (color) attributes show 255,255,206 on the colour wheel/globe thing.

Editing properties frame by frame to try to get the colour to hold does not fix this.

Other links have a golden look, at a guess somewhere in the region of 192,192,64 when the mouse moves across them to give the OVER state.

All this is done in a movie called "menu".

Another (title) movie loads and plays menu on startup.

I can zip up the project and send it to you via email if you want (19 files, 18kb, with 2 swf, 2 fun, container html, frame html, some empty pages).

Or you can point me in the right direction here, if I have made a boo-boo.

PS: I have some thoughts on things that would enhance your already good user interface. Do you prefer these posted here, for discussion, or emailed to you?

I am unclear what the problem is. Your explanation is mainly devoted to how you created the animation.

What version of KoolMoves are you using?

You can send me the animation.

Feel free to express your comments on improvements here. Some gui improvements will be forthcoming in the next version.

Okay, sending you the goods. :)

The problem is that the colours that display in the movie for rollovers are not always the colours that are set up in KoolMoves. Then again, in some instances, they are.

Noticed in other posts that you requested more info on how a problem was created, hence the book above. lol.

Anyhow, have downloaded the Macromedia docs on the swf format so will pull the file to bits and suss it out myself.
