I will have a minor release toward the end of the week with a few bug fixes and minor improvements. KoolMoves was tested by a professional testing group in Germany and I have been fixing things they found.

I did find a bug associated with the text effects screen. If input is entered very quickly into a text field, upon returning to the main screen all controls are disabled. I have fixed this. In the meantime, pressing the close button (upper right) will clear the situation. That bug has been there probably for a very long time.

The third or fourth week in January, I will release version 3.0 with movie clip editing capability, 72 more clip art items, and some other improvements.

Also wondering if there would be any more additions in the AS like if - elseif - else and some kind of looping mechanism in the next major release or have they been put off for future upgrades?

The next major release will be primarily devoted to movie clip functionality and after that a button library and more effects. I will fill in the missing pieces of action scripting in the not too distant future.

Bob,

Is the following AS available in KM or can it be?

on (press) {
startDrag ("");
}
on (release) {
stopDrag ();
}

This is in flash 5. Its the only code needed to drag an object. It allows a person to drag say a form or something.

This would allow users to create dragable elements in their movie. It may be benficial to allow them to drag a group of objects or a movie clip.

Something to think about.

Thanks

I don't see why it shouldn't work once I get movie clips to work. The drag methods would need to be proceeded by a movie clip object if the button action is happening from the main movie.

It might work now because swf objects are movie clips.

Frank,

Drag and Drop is available in Koolmoves 2.8 -- The only method of movie clips that does not work is duplicatemovieclip.

I did an example of drag and drop when I was playing around with it at http://www.merajsami.com --- go to Koolmoves and then Demo.

Another demo of the same was done by Hilary at
http://www.bridel.org/koolmoves/demo/dragdrop/dragdrop.html

Yeah 2.8 has most of the AS you are most likely to need implemented. 3.0 with internal sprites looks quite good also.

KoolMoves is being published by Sybex for retail store sales in German speaking countries. I just got word that it is going into production today or tomorrow. There are many pluses for all of you. For one, it got a thorough shaking out by professional software testers and 2.80.2 addresses issues brought up by that testing.

wow..thats great!

does sybex plan to market in the US as well?

I assume this is the same sybex that makes many of the popular training books and CBTs??
