I am playing with making blurred text that comes into focus.
I have some rough looking movies, but was wondering if anyone else has tried this in KM and how they approached it?
mine doesnt quite look like true blurred text coming into focus.

I have a few ideas about how that could be done using Gradiants and Masks... I'll play around tomorrow with it and see if it works.

I was playing with blurred text just a few days ago...
I was using transparencies.
If you use a few different objects at diff transpaency's then you can achive the blurred looked.
You will have to play with it a little.
(for example)
You have the word Welcome. Create 3 transparency's say at 50% each.
The closer on top of each other (but slightly shifted) you keep them, then you can have that effect. If you move the transparency's further away... it looks less like a blur.
I hope you get what I am trying to illustrate.

Yeah, I just opened KM about 30 minutes ago and I have something that looks blured using transparancies. I'm going to play with it a bit more then post it.

Okay I have it down.
1. Create some text.
2. Copy and paste on top of it.
3. Break apart the text into text characters.
4. Convert into shapes with points.
5. Set the top layer transparancy, I found that radial or gradients with at least 50% transp like frank has suggested looks pretty good. Adjust it slightly to your tastes. You can morph transparancies and colors between frames so on your last frame have it go 100% transparent.

I am just speculating that it might be cheaper from a file size perspective to use masking if there are multiple layers of the same text.

No that's the easy way :)
In all honesty to that seems like a good effect to add into KoolMoves.

I love everything about KM with one exception - the canned effects.... KM has beaten the other in all apsects except that area. This isnt a plug, but Swish has some really top notch text effects that are clean and professional looking. I have duplicated a few of them, but it is VERY time consuming. If KM implemented a library of clean pro quality effects, that would be a nice perk for rapid development.
