Can someone tell me if it is possible to add " right click disable" script to a web site constructed with Kool Moves. I have tried but the script sits above the template and shows on the final page.

Everything that is displayed in the web browser is downloaded to the PC in a temporary folder which can be easily accessed. So I don't see how protection is possible.

When you right click on a SWF it produces the Flash Player menu anyhow. SWFs are in tgheory protected by right clicking however no mater what you do if somone has a notion of swiping a SWF it is possible. No amount of Right click disable scripts will protect it despite what some people say- I've seen a complex right click/ source disable script out there and it is easily rendered useless by sending viewing the page in the W3C HTML Validator and then grabing the source from there and creating hotlinks to the actual SWF.

Pretty much there isn't any good solid way to protect anything on the net.

If you go to this site: link removed , they found a way to protect their swf 's I don't know how but it looks like videostreaming.
If anyone knows how this is done?

I know how to grab them, but not how they put up their way of protecting

What protection? They don't have anything to prevent people from grabing them...

They are using a PHP script to generate the SWF src. Some sites will have an AS to check a value for a file on their server but that can be read also and disabled/changed to your own server with some well known tools...

To be honest if its online and not locked down from the general public its not protected no matter what format you are using.

Before they cracked down on it several sites would actually make fun of schemes and scripts to protect images and the such from copying.

Then on the other hand if it is public why prevent copying? As far personal usage EG; they want to enjoy your SWFs offline why bother?? They enjoy your work and just choose to view it while not connected to the internet. I'd say that would fall under Fair Use wouldn't you?

For those who are trying to steal your work and pass it on as theirs or to steal your work and sell it basically you are in the same boat as book authors and photogephers. Your best way of protecting yourself is to copyright your work, register it ($35), and take legal action if you notice someone has taken your work.

You are perfectly right.

I was asked by the company who produces those swfs to remove their name from the discusion. So I went through and removed their name and url.

Also note that at no time were instructions given by myself nor anyone else in this thread on how to actually steal swfs although it was posted that such is possible along with very general methods. It is important to realize that there are no perfect ways to protect works on a public server. Your best protection is to copyright your works and to actively keep track of it.

I'm truely sorry if such disturbs anyone.

John
I wonder how much they pay i.e. John Cleese for walking silly.
But your right about copyright and protecting it, but isn't this kind of overreacting?
