Hi, I have been checking out this thread for a few weeks...nice group of helpful people. I just started offering Business Card CD's and I was wondering if I could use Kool Moves to produce the entire presentation or is that beyond it's scope? I would need the ability to play MPEG1 video clips on demand, autorun capability and slide shows. Any direction is appreciated. Thanks

You need to pieces of functionality not contained in KoolMoves -- video to swf and swf to exe. Autorun is just a small file with several DOS-like commands which I can't seem to find at the moment. Johnie will know the best way to do this.

Thanks Bob, I do have Flix lite for the conversion to flash, I have autorun programs from typhoon software, I'm just not sure what you mean by swf to exe? Is there any difference in using Kool Moves or a multimedia authoring program for interactive CD's? I appreciate your time.

The swf by itself will not play. It needs a player. Converting it to an exe through 3rd party tools or the stand-alone flash player allows the animation to play by itself.

Hi all,
I am not sure if I can help but I have created a interactive CD using KM that can launch any video from SWF screen. I use a autourun program to launch the SWF file everything worked well except for one problem, I found after the CD had stoped spinning I would loose only SWF sound but everything else work perfectly.

If you would I can try to find it again and email you a working sample but no promises on finding it

Kind regards

Hi Clive, thanks for the reply. That would be great if you could find it, or at least a screen shot of what the interface looks like. Interesting about the swf sound cutting out. When you launched the video, what format was it in? Thanks again. Jeff

Most autoplay or Multi Media tools that create exe can do this. They play the SWF by using embedding IE. MMB, MMF,Autoplay Studio, Ect. Some also achieve this by embeding qt or including a qt compatible player- what Runtime Revolution does.

Anyhow as you already own flix light your best option is a freebie tool known as http://www.flashtoolset.com/FTS/features.html which can both turn your swf into an exe, select your own Icon for it, and creates the autorun.

Do it all in KM using embedd swf for your converted video and then use Flashtoolset to make the exe and autorun file. Burn the exe the autorun and all the movies converted to swf to the CD.

Hi Johnie, thanks for the great info. I actually am using MMB at the moment, but the flash support is minimal. I was looking for a more techy look, with animated buttons and moving backgrounds. I come from a video background, so I like movement on the screen. I will check out the program you suggested and will download the trial of KM and hopefully I will grasp it. Thanks again.

MMB has 3 ways to support Flash.

1. The MNS Plugin ($15)
2. Embedd as HTML Object... Just point to the SWF instead of an HTML.
3. Bind the EXE. After you download the Beta Flash 6 Standalone player from MM create a projector from it and bind it in MMB.

It has more support than most other tools.

You can do what you are talking about within KM and the free flashtoolset or you can do it in any of the Multi Media tools including Neobook- not mentioned.

I tried to install the The MNS Plugin, but I got an expiration date message, tried writing them 3 times with no reply...it looked like the perfect solution, but it wouldn't install. I'm currently using the embed html method, but I don't there is any interaction if you import a flash button. I didn't know about the stand alone player, thanks for that.

Hi Jeffrey,
Sorry to take so long to reply, but being on the other side of the globe doesn’t help.

I had a quick look for the CD and believe it or not, I found it, I will send you a small sample as soon as I get some free time.

The videos I used were .AVI converted to .EXE which contain their own codec and full screen player.

Hope this helps

Kind regards
