html help needed..

i just want to know how to stream audio on a web site.
like it will load some of it and play... then load some more then play.. and if you have dsl or whatever the hole thing will play from start to end.. i also need to know how to make it loop..
the file is about 2MB and 3:40 long.

there are many ways to do this....depends on the file format and how much work you want to put into it....

1 - if your ISP supports streaming real audio (RA), you can convert it to a RealAudio stream format and embed it... however your site visitors must have realplayer installed, or be willing to install it.

2 - the best way is to use Flash/KM and preload it ... 2mb is not that big...however if you can reduce the file using various audio apps I suggest doing so. This will be the most unintrusive method - as most users have flash player installed.

Be aware that most people find autoplaying music annoying as it impacts the speed of which they connect to your site initally...

it really depends on how you plan to use the music... if it is a critical part of the site and is needed to maintian the sites purpose, then go for it... if it is part of an intro or web based presentation, etc...

if it is simply icing on the cake..you may want to reconsider.

It is always best to leave the sound option to the user.. maybe a download link or a PRESS TO PLAY link.

Lastly, if the majority of visitors will be on dial up, they wont want to wait for a sound clip to buffer... you may loose traffic.

ok i know about the real player part but i need a step by step thing.. and i cant do it in KM cuz thats not how i NEED it to play.. it has to start up and play before the whole thing loads.. even if it was 1MB noone on a 56k is waitin 5mins for audio to load... i need it to stream.. and also i need to know how to make it loop over and over..
and do you know where i can get real player from. cuz i tried to download it for the realplayer site about 12 times now and the link to the exe isnt workin for me.. and i checked other sites they all linked back to the same junk.. if you can send me a link or the exe or that ever would be nice..
