How do I get response to a standalone?

I've got a simple 'form to email' form on my standalone.
I can fill in the form and send and have my email sent.

BUT... what I need is some kin of response from the server saying that the message was sent. I can't figure out what I should be using.

I've tried using:

my_lv.sendAndLoad(url, targetObject[, method]) - as shown in th ehelp file of Flash MX 2004.

But I'm not getting anywhere.

WHat I need is really simple. I don't want to use some thrid party software to do what I need to do.

Any help would be appreciated.
