Click to See Complete Forum and Search --> : detecting flash from MAC?
Classic flash detection scripts (javascript/vbscript) seems not to work on Macintosh, neither with IE nor with Netscape, flash plug-in is never detected.
Does anyone know how to make it work right?
thanks

Here is what ya gotta do.
Create your intro page and place a swf on it. In the swf, have it getURL the flash version of your site. If they have Flash, then it will go there.
On the same page, use the Meta Refresh tag. Set it to something like 5 seconds. If they don't have flash then the page will refresh to the non-Flash version of your site.
Make sense?
This is currently the only fool-proof way to do Mac detection.

Hi,
take a look at the moockfpi:
http://www.moock.org/webdesign/flash/detection/moockfpi/
It works pretty good, even with Mac!
But it can't be good on mac IE4.5 without Java Script support :)
