Okay, we all know that a while back, Adobe bought Macromedia (http://www.macromedia.com/macromedia/ir/macr/financials/sec/rule425_FAQ_adobe.com_04-18.05.pdf).
Now, here's the thing.
I just got home from a 6 week vacation, log on to my computer, and found out at the Macromedia (http://www.macromedia.com) web site that Adobe/Macromedia/Adobe Systems Inc. came out with Flash 8 (http://www.macromedia.com/software/flash/flashpro/?promoid=BINT)
Now, I'm not a professional Flash developer (just a lowly unprofessional one,) but, I'd still like to know about this. Is this old news? Has anyone tried using Flash 8 yet? Is it better, or worse?

Mmmmm.... first things first Adobe havent bought Macromedias as of yet. Infact they still legally have to act as two independent companies until the merger is approved by both the board of directors of both companies and the government, so it still may not happen.
Flash 8 is released by Macromedia, Adobe has nothing to do with it whatsoever.
Secondly, Flash 8 was only announced today, it doesnt ship until September, so nobody has it yet.

Adobe hasn't bought Macromedia yet. Flash 8 hasn't been released yet; it was just announced today.
Is it better, or worse?
It's better.

Adobe hasn't bought Macromedia yet.
Well, I considered acquiring most of the stock as buying.
But, if they're still independent companies for now, then, that shines a lot of light on the subject.
Yeah, uh, sorry about that.

They have put in a bid to aquire the stock, which needs approving. They havent actually payed for it yet, lots of monopoly laws and such for the government to look at first.

As an animator I am not all that excited. I used to put in a preorder for every version, but think I am sticking with MX, didn't like MX2004, and don't think this version will do much for me either.

I think you will be pleasantly suprised Phacker.
Custom Easing for starters.
Blend Modes, alpha masks.
Filters - tweenable.
Object drawing mode.
Gradient enhancements.
New Library Panel workflow.
Tabbed Panels/ Custom Panel Grouping
Thousands of bug fixes.
And much much more...

i just visited links of testers -- everywhere they ask for installing Flash Player 7 . i have latest 7,0,19,0. ok -- i let them install and restart my computer.
but still -- nothing happens.
can i risk and make my work in F8 if i'm not sure it plays in other computers?
i 100% agree with Phacker -- after MX nothing happens for animators.
those text animation features in mx2004? -- :hubba:
