I'll probably wait and see the threads started in here about the new features..before I spend one month of beer money on a piece of software...any piece of software...

Ryanmetcalf and gobbles it is totally understandable that you wouldnt want to spend money on the best pece of software on the market today bar NONE. It is also totaly understandable that you would rather save your bucks for beer, der !
Beer is beer, there will always b beer. This is flash......if you dont get that, you dont get flash............................................. .....sorry.....................oh yes I totaly understand perhaps you should stick with your current version until you are totaly satisfied that everyone else can do everything on flash 8 and you still havent even tried it.

I'll always recommend to try before you buy. Just remembering what heppened with MX04. This is sure to be a solid release tho!!!

yes of course..but I have projects all over the place.. and what if I fell in love at first sight.. then I would have to spend all my time playing with it.. nothing iteresting happened in my life since AS 2.0 anyway..

5 to MX
Some notable advancements, but you could live with 5
6 to MX'04
Half the market didn't even bother upgrading. I sure didn't.
MX'04 to 8
If you don't get on board, you will be left behind fast! This release has the potential to really drive a huge gap between the pros and the amateurs. I'm currently somewhere in between, but I'm thrilled to try and get on board.

Yes. I mentioned this in another thread...basically when my school gets it, I'll try some stuff there for about a week and see what's up. If I find that I'm doing more work at school than I should, and become more dependant on Flash 8, then I'll buy it for the house. I agree that Flash 8 has the potential to be a very solid release, but still be cautious for bugs and such. I'm sure they'll make patches for whatever they find...heh, some may consider Flash 8 a patch for MX 2004...!
It's nice to get excited about Flash again. It's been awhile.

Im Sorry..but actionscript havent changed that much since ...well of course AS 2.0...but still what is it they are offering??
Yes I read the threads about all these fantastic changes, but after reviewing the screeenshoots and info about 8 Im not all that convinced.....
I need someone to say..Ricki this is why you should upgrade...
Im not an animator or some guru, just someone making 2-4 websites a month with different needs...

Then I would say Ricki, you don't need to upgrade. But only if you are willing to accept being behind, even far behind, the leading technology of today.

Hi flashl!ght
Well lets see if I cant find the time for trying out the trial...and if I find it very usefull and like the new features...then I'll go and upgrade..
But if I know myself..I'll be so excited about a new toy IŽll rip my visa in pieces getting it out of my pocket that fast..:)
I was doing some thinking about the subject, read the info on macromedia again and maybe came to the conclusion that I owe it to the sites I make to stay up-to-date on my programs...also I might put my photoshop update on hold and do a flash upgrade instead....the money goes the same place anyway it seems...

I hear ya, Ricki... I've personally been putting off a number of upgrades untill Flash 8 is released, and my wallet is already begging for a second opinion - not to mention I'm almost afraid to even know what kind of sleep I'm going to lose when it's on my machine!
Can't agree more, get the trial first. From my standpoint, I know I want it without even trying the trial. The only thing I pray for is that all these features are not wrapped in a buggy IDE, even as Flash 7 was buggy. I'm surprisingly optimistic about this release, however, as it seems they've taken the time and gotten their act together. They can't afford another setback like F7 was anyway, and they know it.
