Hi,

I know this is a stupid question, but I'm trying to figure out EXACTLY what will happen if a .swf formatting for Flash Player 8 is played with Flash Player 7. Normally, the simple answer would be to upgrade the machines, but since my company is ginormous, and no one is allowed to download anything, it presents an issue. Can anyone let me what will happen, whether it would be a blank screen or just the flash 8 features not working. I really appreciate any answers I can get.

PS - I'm sure we'll upgrade, but keeping things up to date has never reallly been a forte around here.

Well I presume you know that you can publish to any version of Flash from the Flash player. The way to find out EXACTLY what happens is to try it yourself, but in my experience it's not uncommon for large portions of the movie to not appear at all, regardless of whether you're using Flash 8 features.

Usualy the movie will run. IT will just ignore all Flash 8 features. Regarding Flash 8 the most critical thing is the antialias options that Flash player will not understand so all texts just won't show at all...

Thanks for alll your help. I know about the publish settings. The anti-alias text features is the biggie. Man, I hope we can get our folks to upgrade.
