Hello Everyone.... I'm really stupid and I can't figure out how to load my movie. (my SWF file is too big) Do I have to use a preloader or a load movie action, and if so than how?

I'm not sure I understand the problem. It what way is it too big? If you movie is large then a preloader is a good idea so that the end user is not waiting looking at a blank screen. Best bet when building a large site is to try to break it down into smaller pieces and use loadMovie to load each part in, this way the user gets to start interacting while the other portions load.

But how do you actually make a preloader? For some reason whenever I go to movie: Preloader and check the box, I'll go to play the movie and nothing will happen. Do you have to go to action scripts or something along those lines...?

Viewing your movie locally usually has the effect of making your preloader a split second experience. My koolmoves website viewed locally never shows me the preloader but always does when viewed remotely on the web.

I still don't think it came up though, because the preloader is supposed to add two frames to the beginning of the movie. And after I added it and played the movie, it still said that the file was too big

Using a built in preloader? Post the fun file and I'm sure Wilbert, Bret or Bob can say if you are on the right track.

Ok this is what I don't get what says it's too big? Where are you seeing this?

When I go to hit Play Portion of Movie or Play in Web Browser, a message comes up and says "Your SWF File is too big. This could cause your computer to shut down...etc. etc.

Wow never heard of that! Just how big is the exported SWF file?

If it's over 80k or so you need to break it up anyway or many people will never see your site as they'll leave long before it finishes loading.

To get that message requires a file at least 3-4MB.

Can someone just explain how to use the action scripts to make a pre-loader that loads the entire movie at once?
