Could someone explain the motion path feature, under properties of a shape? It doesn't do what I assumed it would.

If a movement is created by dispacing an object over a number of frames, this feature shows the extent of the movement.
This from help
Motion Path
The motion path determines key frames positions for the object connecting the position of the object in the first frame to the position of the object in the last frame.
Select a motion path on the left or select None for no motion path. The red line on the right indicates the path between the shape in the first frame and the shape in the last frame. To see the objects in the first frame, select first frame; to see the objects in the last frame, select last frame.
Only a linear motion path is supported at the moment. More paths will be added in the future.

Yeah I saw that it shows movement from the last to first frame. But I just didn't understand why this feature would be used? Unless I'm still not understanding something.

I never got around to adding other paths.
It is useful if you want an object to move in a linear path between a beginning key frame and an ending key frame.

Hello, I would find this immensely helpful as i do alot of animations with KM. Are there any plans so we can create smooth rounded motion paths so its not just staright lines? hope that makes sense.
Cheers

I'd like to add my support for that feature. I use the current implementation quite often - it's slick. I can handle the non-linear paths manually, but being able to assign the movement to a named path would be even slicker.
