Client compress image routines

Does KM or any third party routines that have been ported to km provide a way to compress or reduce the image size. I have a lot of camera images that are 1mg and would like to upload them and display in gallery. Does any know any methods to handle this or routines that I can add to km.
?? Chris - do you have jpgencoder ported to km, and if so do you have an example on your website.
