I was looking for the thread in which Bob talked about the history of kool Moves and found this. I couldn't find the history of Kool Moves though.

I do to but that Fun file and the rest of that animation got killed when my OS died and I had to reinstall windows
(becuase I have a bad habit of keeping large amounts of my work on the desktop and all of those files were lost.- I had a real cool looking womans face that would zoom in and some water stuff, pretty much the Kool kit intro that I was working on. I also had a library for making tutorials and a body part library that I had created to speed the animation process. I am thinking about re-drawing the body part library and making it avialble for everyone also -stock drawings of legs-arms-feet- hands- faces- eyes- lips- mouths- torsos really what I did was buy an anatomy for artist book and started drawing from it.)
Hi Johnie,
Have not seen any of your work before...really liked it especially the moon.swf and the kool-kit(s).swf wish I was able to see some of the other .swf's but would not work when copy and pasted.
See you,
Dawn

Its geocities sometimes they work somtimes they don't.
I will probably whip up a web page and explanations of them all some day when I get around to it. I have more on another machine and more at tripod and some which are on an Corperate intranet that is closed to the public (Most of my work is on there but that's okay becuase they pay me).

Johnie, It is great to see your work. Its like a wild creativity is breaking loose here, there, and I never know where next. I liked see how some of your ideas evolved over several pieces. And I liked seeing how this and that technical chalange take your fancy. How did you do the one where the shape follows the cursor? (http://www.geocities.com/jsnider.geo/stickyshapes.html) Is it possible to follow cursor movements more closely? Right now it looks like every quarter inch or so, the shape catches up with the cursor.

I did that one for brad as an example on gaming. It is possible to make the shape follow the cursor down to infinity but that would be insane.
This is how it is done:
1. You make 1 shape make it look however you want.
2. You turn it into a symbol.
3. You make it transparent.
4. You turn it into a button.
5. You make a non transparent over state.
6. Then switch over to wire frame view.
7. Then select your shape and copy it.
8. Paste the shapes with slightly overlaping intervals.
9 Select the sceen and hide it.
10 Draw under it if you want- then select it all and bring the whole thing to the front.
You can also do this effect on the backend with javascript.

Thanks Johnie! How would you do it in javascript? Do you think that a drawing program could be written in swf and javascript. Could it handle spline editing?

It would be very hard to do that with Flash but probably possible.
These are Flash Player Methods and in general how to expand the scripting abilities of Flash;
http://www.macromedia.com/support/flash/publishexport/scriptingwithflash/scriptingwithflash.html
You would need some actionscripts also.
The problem with doing something with javascript and a SWF is that you would still need a generator type tool (which is okay becuase there are 2 such free tools) to allow a save if it is going to produce another SWF or image.
Probably a better bet would be to use a SWF and C++, or VB, or Java as a backend and then use Flash as a front end for a project like that. There is a SWF>XML parser/XML>SWF binary library out there realesed as free software under an apache liscense.
