We made a few business decisions today:
1) Free upgrades will be extended until July 2001.
2) We will distribute a pro version. To start with it will have bones functionality. It's price will be more than the standard version but how much more has not been decided yet. There will be a way to upgrade from the standard to pro version.

Sounds Fair to me. I really wasn't expecting Bones for free.

The standard will be a subset of the pro and both will advance together. I don't know yet what other features the pro version will have.

Do you think it would be possible to add text input capabilities into KM? I have considered purchasing Flash 5 for this capability, but would much rather see KM feature it. It would involve allowing a developer to specify if a text object is an input object and then give it a variable name. The developer could add as many input objects as needed, each with a unique variable name. An option for buttons could specify the getURL method (GET, or POST) which would pass the variable(s) from the input fields on to a cgi script and run the script in a different frame/window, or have it open in the same window, replacing the Flash file. I know that this is possible with Flash 4, but don't know how difficult it would be to add to KM. This would allow developers to add form fields into existing animations.

I don't see it in the immediate future to be honest. It is difficult for us to have all the functionality of a $300+ application. Keep bringing it to my attention. If your lone voice turns into a chorus it has an effect at our end.

After reading about the exciting prospect of a Pro edition ( Yikes!) I wonder if the kind programmers could give some thought to the following:
1 OLE 2 Support?
2 The ability to create Screensavers from the .fun files
3 The ability to PRINT frames in -
Normal View
Wireframe
Onion Skin
4 More keyboard commands, especially for the Menu items.
5 When installing upgrades, user should be given the choice to overwrite previous versions, or to install to new directory.

1 OLE 2 Support?
-> Excuse my ignorance but what is this?
2 The ability to create Screensavers from the .fun files
-> I started this project but abandoned it after a while. I believe that there are freeware products to create screensavers from swf files so that should serve your needs.
3 The ability to PRINT frames in -
Normal View
Wireframe
Onion Skin
-> I will look into this.
4 More keyboard commands, especially for the Menu items.
-> They are easy to do. I run out of imaginative ideas for key combinations. Please offer some suggestions.
5 When installing upgrades, user should be given the choice to overwrite previous versions, or to install to new directory.
-> This capability must be in the installer software. I will check if there is such an option.

OLE (Object Linking and Embedding) is Microsofts semi failed attempt at emulating Java and creating its own object oriented structure. What it does is allow users to insert an object into a another app or DB but allows you to edit and that object in its native application.
There was only 1 piece of software built entirly on OLE and it is MS word pad. Most Microsoft and other apps allow you to insert OLE objects into them but are not completly OLE based.
The reason why this is desirable is becuase a user would only need to select insert OLE object from another app and imediatly the creation program would pop up and allow you to create the object. Then after you create the object it will close and the object is left in the program.
My problem with this is that if the link is severed- IE you e-mail a word document lets say to a friend with a embedded object but they don't have the app then you see a square that just says object.
