Hey guys,
Got this problem for a while. Found an landmap of Europe on the internet, saved it and in paint shop pro 6 made some alterations and saved it again as .eps file. Tried to import it into swift 3d and waited for 3 hours while nothing happened! My patience was up and i decided swift 3d is S#!*^#, but now i've cooled off and want the animation in my new site. Help Me!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Paint Shop Pro? I might be wrong, but isn't that a BITMAP editing program? You need to keep everything VECTOR... this map you found, is it vector?
It's as if you're taking a illustrator file and opening it in PhotoShop and saving it from there as an .eps which COMPLETELY removes all vecotr info... bad... very bad...
Try editing you're image in Illustrator or Freehand or even flash.

Ok,
So if i save the landmap from the internet as a .gif file an open it in illustrator (8,9) and then save it, there will be no problems?

Hello,
I went on the internet and found a landmap of holland. I saved it from the internet as a .gif file the other option was .bmp and that wasn't ok, you told me. I started up adobe Illustrator 9 and open the .gif file showing the landmap of Holland. I made some slight alterations and saved it aa .ai format. Now i'm starting up swift3d and want to import the .ai file and got the following message:
Error inporting file:
An error has occured attempting to import the specified file. This error is most commonly caused by attempting to import an invalid or corrupt file.

Help meí'm about to do something!!!!

Hang on a second.
This map of Europe is a bitmap, right? You're gonna have to TRACE it in Flash or Illustrator and then DELETE the bitmap. It's the bitmap that's really messing things up.
Plus when you save it from illustrator, save it as an .eps file (version 5.0/5.5)
Does this help? Do you understand the differnce between Bitmaps and Vectors?

I'm a newbie when it comes to swift3d. How, what is the procedure, can i trace the bitmap?

I think the easiest way is to import the image into Flash and then go Modify > Trace Bitmap. Then select the image (which is now vector) and export image to .eps format THEN import that into Swift3D.
Or you can just trace the outlines by hand in Illustrator (since sometimes the Flash Trace Bitmap command doesn't do a good job.)

Hey Vince,
Ok i traced it and saved it and imported it (10 min). Then i wanted to make some alterations, maybe an action. That's not gonna happen! Ok, then i decided, i'll do it in flash, i wanted to export it 1 frame it took 30 min and then i decided this can't take so much time.
P.S. You talked about deliting the bitmap, but when i'm in swift i'm importing the .eps file so i've got nothing to to with the bitmap, right????
Help me!!!
Thanxxxxxxxxxx
