Can someone tell me how to download just the star draw component of StarOffice. I went to the site several times and all I could find was the complete download and a group of downloads (but I couldn't figure out which one was the stardraw). Any help would be really appreciated. Thank you.

You have to download and then custom install it.

Open office may have a single package download.

thanks johnnie for the quick reply....way back I thought I saw a thread that mentioned you could download JUST the stardraw component....not the whole 100MB star office. Am I mistaken? I was unable to locate the thread, although I did visit open office as well and still couldn't figure out what to download. I didn't see anything that said 'stardraw' to download. I'm appreciative of your input. Thanks again.

Okay this is what is going on...

1. The Open Office download is 24 Meg.

2. Installed Open Office is about 100 Megs (Well it contains a Database, Spreadsheet, E-Mail Client, word Procesor, Web Browser, FTP agent, Dial Up mangar, Image Manipulation program, Desktop environment, HTML Editor, Power Point like presentation software, Visio Like flow chart software, Code editor, and a Drawing Program.) The Custom install of Open Office with just Open Draw is 64 Megs and will install the HTML editor and Word processor along with it.)

3. Open Office is GPLED which means that it is opened source. Both the Source code and the tools to compile the source are available. The Draw componet (The only componet that we are really intersted in) source can be downloaded- I think. In order to create just the Draw componet it would have to be built. At this momment I know of no builds of just the draw componet (I will be the first to say it, Star office is just like MS Office... IT is a lot of mediocre software that is over feature laddened. Its strength is that you can do almost anything with the software that you can think of while not doing anything exceptionally well. The sad part is that Star Office is free where as Microsoft charges big bucks for MS Office Premium - the equivilant software package.).

4. If you can still find it the download of Star Impress will give you Star Draw and Impress without the rest of the stuff. The problem is it is hard to find just Star Impress anymore as sun removed that as a download option.

So what I'm saying is either find a download of Star Impress/ Open Impress, Download Star/Open Office and then custom install, or Dopwnload just the Source code for Star Draw (I might do that and make it available to everyone- if I can't find a Impress link- since many people have asked how to just get Star Draw)
