MC in button downstate

Hoping that someone can help me with this.
I have a MC (MovieClip) in the downstate of a button. However, when the button is pressed, the button returns to its up state so fast that the animation is not visible.
I know the clip is being started as the sound plays.
How can I ensure that the animation plays before the button returns to it regular up state?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
