Interactive History Project

I want to design a flash system of as much history as possible. Probably starting from the first civilizations to 2000. Let me give a better perspective.

When you visit the website, you see a bar like sort of like this:

When you hover the mouse over a certain part and click, the timeline fades to the top and a new bar fades into view.

This view incorporates civilizations etc.. The concept isnt perfect yet.

The initial system that needs to be designed is used so that scholars are able to input and change information on their own. Sort of like wikipedia but higher standards.

Anyone up for this?
