i want to make a 60 minute presentation with flash cs6 to be played from a laptop to TV's via HDMI, but just came across flash's 16,000 frame limitation. can i simply make chunks of this movie in flash and export it into something that'll be able to output it into an avi or mp4 format?

Thats only for one symbol. You can break up your presentation into different clips and play them sequentially in the same swf (as long as each segment is within 16000)
hat being said, if you're animating for a straight 60 minutes, I would use separate swfs. This will keep file sizes down which is generally a good thing. Also, if a file would happen to get corrupted, you wouldn't lose *everything*
