editing background image

Hi , newbie here , - I have a very nice Flash gallery that scatters the images in thumbnail form on a background and then magnifies them when they are clicked - I just want to be able to change the background . I can do it by opening the swf file in Flash MX and changing the image in the library , but when I export it as swf the gallery attributes are missing . I'm assuming it was made in Flash 7. do I have any way of editing it without using flash7?

It sounds to me like you are working with a component. Without seeing the file, it is hard to say exactly what is going on.
