We call it FSO's, Flash Sprite Overlays.
FSO's is the placement of Flash swf files over exsisting
HTML web page to give them new life. We have been making these for 6 months now and having a lot of fun doing them.
The only problem is they don't work in Netscape or MAC IE.
Neither support transparencies.
Here are a few examples:

Yah, I've seen those and didn't know what they're called...
I was at weather.com and a bear walked across the screen, that's was my first encounter...haha. But, it was more 3D...so that was cool.
Anyways, those were funny, hehe...great job...

Thanks,
We believe FSO's will become a natural part of web design very soon.

Yahoo has been using these to advertise for a few months, they are neat to see but pretty annoying when the close option is not presented well on a static overlay.

I don't know how much I like the sprite overlays...(I've killed Bonzai Buddy more times than I can count for the same reason)...but maybe they have other uses...I DID, however, find myself lingering around on the developingwebs.net site!
