The Advantages of Being Alone

I'm going out to dinner all by myself yet again
oh, it all seems so casual to someone like me
To have nothing to lose and everything to gain,
and it feels so good to never have the chance to disagree;
There's something about the way it feels
to never have to worry about love
To spend New Years Eve alone,
to watch the fireworks explode above,
not have to worry if my chance was blown
'Cause no matter what, there's always advantages
advantages of saving myself, advantages of being alone
advantages of being able to live with what I can manage,
of never spending my time waiting and watching the phone
It's good to know there's a time when I can let my gaurd down,
a time when I don't have to be uncomfortable in an akward silence
It's good to know I don't have to dress up for a night on the town,
I can watch the movies I want to, the ones with the most violence;
There's just something about the way it feels
to sit in my favorite chair and watch T.V.,
to flip the channels as fast as I want
even if the shows I can't even see
eating fatty foods, no reason to be gaunt
'Cause no matter what, there's always advantages
advantages of never worrying if I'm the drone
advantages of never being the one who mismanages,
advantages of never saying sorry, advantages of being alone
