i've gotta get up early tomorrow, but i think this is a good enough excuse to stay up and celebrate!!
woo! go the aussies!
Hahaha :D Come on kids... it was a friendly :D We let you win! :D
Thats why we swapped the whole team at half time :)
Was a good learning game for some of our younger players, Jenas and Dyer were brilliant. Vassell wasn't as good as I've seen him, but you know... its all groovy...
Lets see if Australia can qualify for some international games this time ;)
Great match...it's all about consistency, now if the Aussies can take this and play like that in all their international matches, then they might be ranked in the Top15 instead of the 50th.
:D
har har! :D
When are you poms going to invent a game that you can actually beat the aussies at?
3-1 3-1 3-1

Yeah you tried two whole teams and you still couldn't beat Australia!
Soccer is a second tier sport in this country, it gets hardly any media coverage (except during World Cup qualifiers) and Soccer Australia is a financial basket case. This is a very embarrassing loss for England.

Do we all really think that if this was a world cup game, England would have lost. I mean, this is great for AUS soccer, but come on... England doesn't have much over Australia, can't we leave them the soccer? LOL
E.
hehe ... I wouldn't really go as far as to say it's embarassing, poor performance definitely but not really a massive setback.Quote:

It was good to see Arsenal boy Jeffers score a great goal though :)
Set back my arse :D We let them win... and Jeffers was setup wonderfully by Jenas :)Quote:

Yeah, Jenas will be joining Jeffers in the Arsenal reserves next season, I hear we've got a deal in place to bring him to Arsenal for £8.5m + Parlour :)Quote:

face it, it was a great match for australia and a poor match for england.
the first half england team were crap but obviously didn't care much, they're all playing big league and euro games in the next week and in the second half the kids played well but without any seniority they were a bit lost. I thought rooney played the ball well and jeffers and jenas did solid work. It bodes well for the future of england.
all credit to the aussies, they're a great side but against a full and motivated england side they would be out of their depth.
hehe ... with Arsenal due to spank ManUre on saturday most of England's best players will be focussed on the FA Cup but at the end of the day, the premiership is the best and strongest league in the world and even a reserve side should be able to dispatch an Aussie football team!Quote:

I reckon Sven is going to get a right mauling in the press tomorrow and he'll be off to manage Barcelona in the summer.
I hear england have a great darts side this year.

ENGLAND were booed off after a stinking defeat against soccer minnows Australia.
The Swede, along with 35,000 stunned fans, watched in horror as his so-called senior side were torn apart in the most humiliating opening 45 minutes of a home international any of us could recall.
We thought that England's lamentable 2-2 draw with Macedonia at Southampton last time out was bad enough.
This though was a total and utter shambles - and a disgrace to both the Premiership and the overpaid and over-rated players who represent it.
Australia are ranked 50th in the world - below New Zealand, Trinidad and Tobago, Honduras and Saudi Arabia.
And England, 42 places higher, had NEVER lost to the Socceroos - a country who last qualified for the World Cup finals almost 30 years ago.
Yet, after 45 minutes they were two goals down having turned in a performance defying description.
Well, there are ways to describe it but I am attempting to maintain some level of decency here.
We had joked that, at least, England's football team would not possibly collapse to the sort of 4-1 defeats suffered by both our outclassed cricketers and tennis players. Well, they did their best.
The night everyone but Eriksson could have done without - and would soon come to lament - got off to the worst possible start when kick-off was delayed by 15 minutes late.

Hahahaha, as David Michie says, we beat 2 fresh teams out there. :p
.....and before anyone forgets recent footie history, Australia has also despatched French and Brazilian national teams as well. Did they let us win as well....the world is so nice to us aussies ;)
Couldn't really get too much more dismal for the poms, they lost the tennis, they lost the cricket, they lose in rugby Union, they get thrashed in Rugby league all the time, and I think we even beat them at Lawn bowls.
I am sure their darts team does it a treat tho', you gotta give them some credit....
