Cross Platform Player
I'm developing my FLASH work on an MAC 800 with 768 ram.
However, when I play back on an avaerage pc laptop for demo, there's alot of lag time in the playback.
Two things come to mind:
a) low memory on the pc
b) huge file being demoed.
as the features of FLASH become more robust (video, better sound) I find the files balooning in size. The most recent project I did was 6 meg when complete. That's the one that delayed on playback. Not too good when the customer is looking for good, fast alternative to powerpoint.
Couple of different thoughts. Hope someone can help.

un tip:
divide and conquer.
load external swfs... then not everything has to be in the memory at the same time.

even in a CD presentation?
won't that delay the playing of the next scene?
I've cut them together to play the next scene: _root.someMC.gotoAndPlay(2);
Will this "hang" the playback.
say, how far are you from Bonn. I have a friend in Bad Godesburg who I see regularly.

i guess it depends on the speed of the cd drive. but most modern ones are fast enough.
don't do a lot of cd stuff myself... but the one pretty big thing i did, i separated into scenes. it's been a while, but i don't think we actually loaded external swfs. but it should work.
is this an interactive presentation? or is it just supposed to run? i think if it runs without any user interaction, then it should all be in one file.
can you test on a laptop?
bonn is a ways away from here. about a 3 hour drive (west-sw). guess bad godesburg is a town near bonn?
g'night.

If you use a projector to load in external files those files will stream in; if you put everything in one projector the whole projector has to be loaded into Ram before it can play.
So the best option is to seperate out into files and then load in the background as required or put preloaders in...

projector
heard alot about the term, but people seem to shy away from discussion in favour of web applications.
It's a standalone CD with the file on it. The file is cut together like a movie trailer. Can you suggest a good projector tutorial?
I've got a presentation next week for a Pharmaceuticals company about shifting their sales presentations from powerpoint to Flash.
I've sold them on the concept of switching, but the presentation has to be slick.
thanks in advance,
