Phh, you can want whatever you want, aint gonna mean its going to happen.
The KKK is still alive and well, there is an active American Nazi Party -- but I dont think they're planning on making any progress -- and neither is the guy trying to make gays illegal.
which county?
hazard county?
We're doing a HUGE rollout of an online diversity assessment for a major bank, and their TN office is one of the biggest groups. The assessment is pre-work for a live class...I'll have to ring up some of the instructors and ask for stories.
Ha ha, if that doesn't scream backwoods hick, I don't know what does. Way to go for giving a good name to the state of Tenesee.Quote:

Lets just get things in perspective though eh?
Quote:
County attorney Gary Fritts said the initial vote triggered a "wildfire" of reaction. "I've never seen nothing like this," he said Thursday.
But Fritts said it was all a misunderstanding.
"They wanted to send a message to our (state) representative and senator that Rhea County supports the ban on same-sex marriage," he said. "Same-sex marriage is what it was all about. It was to stop people from coming here and getting married and living in Rhea County."
Not that the issue of banning homosexuals didn't arise.
"I'm not saying it wasn't discussed," Fritts said. "Sometimes you had five or six people talking."
Fritts said he advised the commissioners they cannot ban homosexuals or make them subject to criminal charges. The U.S. Supreme Court in 2003 struck down Texas' sodomy laws as a violation of adults' privacy.
Fritts said he doesn't believe the issue will come up again.

I'm sure that not all the people in the great state of Tennessee are complete podunks, but you do get the feeling that even those people that live in houses are a little, um, xenophobic?
Is that a nice way of putting it?
homosexuality is illegal in virginia, as well as some other states. I think its legal to be gay here, you just can't act on it.
werent sodomy laws struck down by the supreme court nationwide, or was it just in TX?
I think it was just texas. I can't remember, but I think texas had a different set of sodomy laws for homosexuality and heterosexuality. Here in the fine state of VA no sodomy for anyone.
I aint no hater, BUT I absolutely disagree with idea of SAME-SEX-MARRIAGE..... ITS a receipie for a disaster....
