i always get this error when I use some basic action scripts
When I use the same piece of code in 2004 mx, I do not have the error

your putting code that should be place on the timeline on a movieclip or a button.
so the easiest fix would be to insert an actions layer, and by using an button instance name target my button, with the coding?
