Incorrect I'm afraid, I've been building ASP driven Flash sites since Flash 4 without a hint of any other coding including XML.

Well try this:
Load the SWF into frame 3 but make the first frame of it blank with a stop action.
Then on frame 4 just call the SWF to move onto the next frame.
Simple and worked for me :)
