The API functions need to exist in your code so the common UI can call them. Have a look at our first competition to get a feel for what you can expect it to look and behave like...

Thanks for the post, walnoot! =)
I'm really looking forward to see what people do with the theme: "grow".
Of course the immediate thing that will come to mind for some will the On's Grow games....

Thanks for the report, The Helmsman. Fizzlebot is my domain, but it's one hosted at Dreamhost due to their very generous bandwidth plans, and is where I usually serve media files from. The trouble...

You have no idea what you're talking about Xareox.

Hi The Helmsman!
That's a good question. A multi-level puzzle game could indeed fit within the theme of the competition, though it is not a requirement for entry. We are asking for simple puzzle...
-
Thanks, Jordan. =)
If you feel your game meets the theme of the competition (i.e., puzzle games), then by all means it's alright to enter it. Games that don't fit the theme, however, are unlikely...

No worries, and I didn't think you meant that. But just in case anyone else was thinking that, I just wanted to set the record straight and explain the purpose behind it.
cheers. =)

Cheers, Squize! =D
scheletro - if you create your puzzle game to support the API I have documented in the comments posted to the comptetition announcement on my site...

Cheers! Tonypa for posting this over here on Flashkit. =)
And you're right: gameplay is far more important than pretty graphics. ;)

I wrote a fairly extensive review of the game on my blog, it should explain most everything you need to know about it...

Saltacol is one of my favorite Flash games that no one has mentioned, created by Voet Cranf. It's an action strategy puzzler with brilliant level design. One of the best IMHO.
And then there's...

Have you tried simply mimicking what the games_score_sql.php script does, and query the database yourself?
I would throw in some echo statements along the way to find out where exactly in the...

Hey Kyle,
It wasn't very clear to me at first, lots of things flashing on the screen confused me. Your simple instructions to "rules are in rollovers on the displays" did the trick.
Now that...

I am always on the lookout for excellent new games to review and promote. A link to your game is all I need, plus your name and any other information you would like me to include in the blog post....

Santuria,
Use the code that Tony posted, and move your hero's registration point so that it is in the center of the movie clip, then it will work correctly.
cheers.

It has been encouraging to see the Flash game developer community come together on issues that concerns everyone.
If Flashkit is suggesting to take Flash game developer concerns elsewhere, maybe...

Thanks, T1ger. Even if that were true, that would not work so well with the game I am trying to build, as I need to track mouse movement without any buttons down.
Jtnw - I guess I'll search around...

Thank you, Strille. It looks promising, even though it may only work in IE.
I am beginning to think that what I want to do is going to be difficult to support across all browsers and every OS. :(

That's a good suggestion, Kakihara, and I am already doing that in the test game I have set up.
It still causes somewhat choppy gameplay.
-
Thanks, Frag. I will look into that. =)
Oops. Doesn't look like it will do it for me. It says:
"Applications can be distributed for 4 different scenario's: Self Extracting Executable,...

Thank you, Kakihara.
Well, making the swf the size of the screen does not give me all coordinates for the mouse when the swf is opened in a browser window, which is the primary target for the...

Hey peeps, first time posting here, and I'm wondering if anyone can help me out.
I am building a Flash game that makes use of the mouse for control of movement. There is a player icon that gets...
