as far as i know there is no way round this, this system freezes whilst the video is loaded into memory.

this is not difficult to do, there's a good book called Flash MX video, which has a tutorial doing all the things you requested. It's published by friendsofed, www.friendsofed.com

you seem to be mixing up up levels and targets, give your two place holders instance names, say "big_mc" & "small_mc"

the use loadMovie like so:

loadMovie("service.swf", "big_mc");

then "Page Properties", set Left Margin and Top margin to '0' and both Margin width fields to '0'.
