I agree on the splash, that to me also does not make any sense. I loved the design feel of the site but didnt like how slowely it built up the animation. To me that could have been done a bit faster....

Nice job mate, i did like it. Simple but effective.

I liked the simple addictive concept but indeed it was very slow overhere on a reasonably fast machine p2.8 ghz ... anyways good lob so far :)

There is only one created because the depth setting is being set wrongly.
it should be something like :

this.createEmptyMovieClip("pic1",1);
this.createEmptyMovieClip("pic2",2); ...

yeah but frying your brain thisway is not a good idea. I mean build up your skills a bit before delving into something like this. Its all about preperation and not about overkill ... then in the end...
