Thanks for the response - was hopeful when I saw it for sale on American Amazon, only to have hopes dashed as you can't buy software if you're not in the same country.
Been a while since I was a...

Anyone know where I could still but a copy of Flash MX 2004?
Just to clarify, I'm not interested in torrents, trials, OEMs or any other dubious methods ... I need a fully legit boxed copy of...

Thanks for the file, dawsonk ... I tried it, but the movement in it is a little erratic, plus it's not repeatable (if you click it again, it jumps and stops) and if you change the time parameter (to...

I appreciate your help dawsonk, but it looks like the functions you cited only allow you to stipulate the duration of the move, not the distance. I need to ensure that the clip only moves 190px.
I...

That's um ... certainly expansive. However, as I mentioned, I'm no mathematician, and all that means next to nothing to me.
The other problem is that I'm not interested in how long it takes to...

I need a formula that will enable me to script a motion for a movieclip that speeds up gradually and then slows down gradually too ... basically a scripted version of tweeening in and then out again....

... or more precisely, STOPPING variables from loading.
I'm using a loop to import HTML code from a series of URLs into separate LoadVars() objects (with a view to extracting key data items),...

I don't understand what you mean by the 'strict data typing' gparis ... and I'm afraid I need a little help with your code too. I can see where you're going - just not sure how you got there.
The...

I already have a test in place to ensure the variables are loaded, so that isn't the problem (although I will use your much more economical suggestion - thanks).
The problem is that I don't know...

THE PROBLEM: In a nutshell, I want to get Flash to enumerate all the variables in _level0, giving me both the names and the values for each ... is that possible?
THE BACKGROUND: I'm loading the...

Sorry ... not quite with you there. I've tried resizing the movie clip on load to +1 height and width ... didn't work. Is there some other way of doing this?

Just Googled the bug and came up with this ... not perfect, but closer than what I had.

Okay, just tried a few of the suggestions and ... no luck. As I anticipated, the solutions don't work because they are meant to resolve shifting issues from importing into the authoring environment....
-
That's it, silentweed ... unfortunately a few of the workarounds won't work because I'm actually loading the image from a URL into an empty movie clip. I'll look into those that don't require doing...
-
No ... I'm loading into an empty movie clip, so it doesn't actually have any physical dimensions until the image is loaded. I don't think moving the clip's position will make any difference either...

looks like a script to move something ... a button, maybe? You'd need to add some extra info to this if you want help.

I'm trying to load images into an MC called images ... it works fine apart from one little niggle: every image that is imported seems to be displaced one pixel right and one pixel down.
It...

A pixel is most definitely NOT a dot - dots are round, pixels are square (in most cases - some are rectangular). Okay, I'm starting to bore myself now!

Nope ... you said that "whenever an image is displayed on a monitor and is not scaled, it is 72dpi" ... that's not correct. Your argument was correct (that 'per inch' is irrelevant when working with...

I have posted a template for this in this thread:
http://board.flashkit.com/board/showthread.php?t=739683
Download it and pick it apart - should be what you're after. Mods in the version on...

Used to be that you could do it with an FS command ... I think they cut all that over security issues (SWF files opening files/applications on your machine is NOT a great idea!!). getURL() is only...

Well, the only help you'll get here is for Flash. I reckon you want the latest version ... standard should do it if you're only getting to grips with it.

To be honest I don't think it matters ... there is a print function you can access through AS, and I think it allows you to set resolution, but if the user prints it through the browser, the bowser's...

DPI is a measurement reserved for output devices that can actually produce dots (e.g. printers), and cannot be influenced by any application other than the printer's own software.
You guys are...
