i just mean, most tickers that i see are horizontal, like a javascript ticker, they move from left to right. I want it vertical, one item appearing at a time, and then moving up and disappearing off...

opacity changes are quite processor intensive, so doing this could actually slow down your animation. I wouldn't recommend it.

you need to put /: in front of the variable name to tell the flash to look for the variable on the main timeline.

so if your passing in
myvar = 3
and you have a text field in your movie clip...
