But if i blur it externally (ie, in photoshop), then the image is going to be a bigger file size. The idea was to import a small image, and enlarge it within Flash to about 150% of its size. This is...

Ok, erm.. so try it like this...
_root.gotoAndPlay("firstframe_Scene2")
Think that'll work... phew.
-
start it with an "evaluate", which will give you the "expression" box.
Of course it needs on (Click) or whatever first.
In the expression box just type in:
_root.firstframe_Scene2.gotoAndPlay...

Yup, reason it doesn't work (i think) is because Flash thinks that the MC is the current timeline, and therefor can't see any other scenes from there. The way i did it once, was to label a frame on...
-
yeah, that seems to happen.Just put a label on the first frame of the scene you want to jump to, and link to button to _root.label.gotoAndPlay
I think thats it. Or something along those lines....

Never had this problem before, but I', trying to get my imported .png files to smooth / blur. I've enlarged them to about 150% within Flash which means you can see the pixels, but when i set the...

Oh, I'm not saying for a second that the improvements aren't benificial to the designers and programmers, because they are. And hopefully, Flash MX will make it possible (or at least easier) for...

I'm new to Actionscript and programming in general, but i think i can grasp the concept of the split command. I assume it takes a single value, of however long it is, and turns it into different...

I just downloaded the trial version, and so far, I'm not too impressed. It seems that the only real changes are ones that don't fundamentally change what you can do with Flash, but just makes...

no, i guess i'm just being picky about it, but i would have thought it would display it as the stand alone player does.
Thanks though.
BTW, nice font in your footer. hmm, looks familiar, now where...

ok, cool, that keeps it at 100%, but the actual window size is still bigger. This makes the area around the movie visible and isn't helpful when I need to see where the movie perimeters are.
And...

Why is it that when you Test Movie, it opens it in a default sized window, that is usually nothing like the size you specify? I constantly find myself re-sizing the window every time, which is very...

quite a cool thread, but it doesn't realy explain much of the importing into flash.
Also, if i use PNGs do i need to adjust the quality in the objects properties? and if i keep it as lossless, won't...

Hi,
What's the best way to import an image into Flash and get good quality output? Do I...
-Import a jpg file, and keep the quality setting as lossless?
-Import a jpg file and set the quality to...

are you viewing the swf files directly? there realy is no reason why you can't but it may cause problems with some browsers. Can't you use embedded swf instead. Maybe export as Flash 5, and get ppl...

Ok, so it's my understanding that when you embed a font into the flash movie that the entire font data is copied to the .swf file so that it will display the movie correctly whoever views it. But......

Dunno. Stick a play command in there. Has to be a movie clip though, flash turns animated gifs into a set of keyframes which will need to be part of a movie clip in order to animate.

This is more or less exactly, what I was trying to do as well.

I think javascript can solve this somehow, but I'm not sure how.

I remember seeing something on http://www.92degrees.co.uk
There was a javascript tutorial there i think, but i can't seem to find the exact address.

WOW!
thats cool. and i see you've put that scratchcard effect thing to good use for your banner.
How about making them smaller and fade out instead. Might look a bit better?
-
yeah, or just stretch its position on the timeline, so it covers more than one frame. I think I understand the problem you're having, I'm guessing you just created a layout first, all on one frame...
