    [Beta]Tactics 100 Live! Multpliayer 1v1

This is more of a concept game, only 4 units, right now I want to see how people like it. I haven't finished the multiplayer part yet. Please check it out and let me know what you think and if there are problems. Tactics games are a bit slow paced for most people but I'm hoping someone can play out the single player (3 levels) and check out the army setup. My goal was to make a tactics game that was fair, no one has an advantage, simple and easy to play, you can play by just clicking around with your mouse. Let me know if the concept makes sense. I hope to finish by end of this month.

Please don't link or distribute, I may remove the link at any time. Also sorry for all the ads, I'm testing a new layout for my own games

    Thanks!

    Brilliant, brilliant game!

However, I don't like that it takes 4 clicks just to move one of my characters. How about having an icon in the interface with 4 arrow buttons in it (one for each direction), and at any time you can use this to rotate whichever character you have selected? So instead of the game forcing you to use a click choosing the direction, you could do that at any point during your turn.

    - pixel art: very nice
    - flash vector stuff: very ugly
    - font: pixel one nice, flash (timesNewRoman look alike) very ugly
    - good job on the sounds
    - splash screen could have some improvements

I sometimes found the movement to slow,- for example in JaggedAlience2, or AdvanceWars there was always an option to skip CPU animations or incraese the playback speed - would be a nice addition to this game

    overal nice demo

    Wow! That was some experience

I am a fan of turn-based strategy, and you just took away 30 minutes of my time without me knowing it . This is one great game, and has potential written al over it!

    Pro:
    - Great battle system
    - Nice art
    - Able to build and modify army
    - Simple, yet effective
    - Balanced units

    Con:
    - Limited selection of units.
    - Computer does not vary much yet.

Overall, I think this demo rocks, and I would like to see more in the future!

Overall, absolutely fantastic. The graphic are top notch and the ai works well. I've played FF tactics so I had no problem just stepping in and playing.

There were a few glitches, particularly when I deselected units. The units would just appear at random postitions. I could still reselect them and the problem corrected itself though, so it's not a game breaking bug.

The only other issue is that I would have reservations about is the speed of the game in multiplayer. In the current gameplay with even smaller armies than in the demo you're going to have really long breaks in play. For the hardcore this won't be a problem but it may turn off casual players and newcomers. Simply limiting the time allowed might be too punishing, given the amount of actions that need to be done.
Have you considered a energy/wait system similar to in the FF games? Where there is a wait for each individual piece dependant on it's speed. That might add too much complexity but it would break up the waits. This may be a moot point, since the single player game is good enough to get people to a point where they're familiar with the units and cotnrols. Maybe.

Anyway, great game, I'm sure it's going to be huge. Good luck with finishing it.

I liked the game as well but for some reason when I won two in a row it awarded each victory to the opposing team and told me I lost. Also, the knights are a bit too tough, all knights and one healer and I was able to beat the computer every time without losing even a single unit.

@webgeek: Thanks, will check it out. Also I will try to balance the knights maybe their shield starting at -50% is too much.

@happinessSam: Yes I thought of the wait breaks, like in Tactics Arena, but it seemed too complicated to me, like you weren't sure which piece you could move at the time. Thanks for finding that bug, I've never seen that before, gotta find out how to duplicate it.

@khaine: Thanks, I didn't make the computer too bright

@renderhjs: Thanks, which vector and font did you find ugly?

@vengence: Thanks, I'm not sure about that, changing direction is already rare, most likely you want to attack or do something. If you don't want to change direction you can just click the unit again.

Great potential. Liked almost everything about it (graphics too). The battle system needs you know, a little something to make it stand out but if it was multiplayer, with you able to select from a wider range of opponents.
Don't know if you need any but I thought of a couple of ideas.

Necromancer - very weak and useless except for one redeeming feature- he can raise dead characters (with very little energy, and not always successfully).
Barbarian - About as tough as two knights but only able to move one step at a time. Low resistance to magic. For extra coolness you could do a barbarian astride a tiger or some mythical beast.
Chameleon - morphs to whatever character he approaches/is attacked by for one round. So you have at least a fair fight.

I actually liked it a lot - specially keeping in mind that this is a demo with a restricted batch of units, I think you do have something here with a great potential !!!

That's a beautiful game! Loved the state handling and small parts like current turn player's army flashing. Keep it up!

Thanks for all the comments. I fixed a few bugs, like the undo messing up found by happinessSam. I also weakened the knight a bit more. There was also a big bug where you couldn't win the single player version. Gotta get started on the multiplayer soon!

I'm keeping this post short because I'm short on time, and it seems like you've been given some great feedback so far.

Graphics:Very, very nice. For a game genre that doesn't depend much on graphics, this one really has outdone itself..excpet for the times new roman font
    Sound: Perfect.
Gameplay: I dont really play many turn based games on the computer, but I did like this game a lot. It's very tactical + strategical, and from my first glimpse of the game, it seems quite hard to master. Atm, with even just 4 unit types, the game is intense. When this game turns multiplayer, I'm sure there are going to be some very close and exciting matches, and also some freak players (who will live on the game).
    Additions:
-Skip button. I found it very tiresome and tedious waiting for the AI to finish it's move. Also, occasionally I had finished my desired moves but had to repeatedly click 4 times on each remaining character to finish the move (not fun). This could all be fixed with the addition of one button
-Different terrain. I found it very repeitituous playing on the same field. If the terrain were more random (randomly loaded), players would be forced to change tactics and improvise.
Controls:I think at times that it gets quite fiddly, but overall, the controls were well structured and fairly easy to learn.

I'm sure ithe game's gonna be a huge hit when it goes multiplayer (it would even be a good singleplayer game), and best of luck.

Very nice work! Great art, sounds and gameplay was cool too. Reminds me of another flash tactics game http://www.tacticsarena.com/ . Very good job for a solo job especially.

I do not know if you are upgrading the game as we speak, but some bugs occur here.

Last battle I scored 300 points because my opponents army started with 1 HP per man, instead of the usual full bar.

And now I play a game, and my opponent does not even have an army! It is a blank field on his side, and the bar with percentage and portraits is empty as well :S

    What causes this?

    For your information:
    This is how I start:

This is the screen that appears when I have succ. moved 1 model !

Just at the beggining was a little bit confuse because I muved my character, fter that and some clics I figured out that I had to make a second click on him jus to make it face somewhere

FYI: all knights + 1 healer is still a winning strategy.
