Most all 3d apps come packaged with a stock texture map of the globe, your problem is that wont translate well into swift3d since it only imports the spline information, not the texture info. If you do find a good pic, i recomend tracing just the continents in illustrator and bring them into 3ds. Once there, arrange them around a sphere primative and apply a spherize modification. After that apply a small extrusion to each shape and arrange them on the sphere as flush as possible with out submerging them. Export the file and color the shapes in Swift3d. This may produce less than savory results but at least you get the freedom of getting just the right angle. This is more tricky than it sounds, good luck.

    If you check out http://www.3dcafe.com/asp/default.asp
They have some great 3ds shapes that can be imported into Swift and condensed really good. I do believe they have a globe there also.
    Check out there freebie section.
