Making Act. Script Text into a movie clip

Stupid question but, I have learned how to make these action script text effects by following the Flash Typer templates, but I am unable to make these into single movie clips. I want to be able to call these movie clips with tell_target function rather than having all of the actions on the main time line. (copying the frames into a new movie clip does not work)... Thanks in advance -Alexis

when you copy into the movie clip make sure that any paths to variables, code, and or other mc's are all correct.
