Alright, watch this one get 500 hits. Where can I find tutorials or tips for creating Strata 3D files for export to Swift 3D and eventually Flash?
It seems like half the people on here are using either 3D Max or Strata, but there isn't too much information on the best way to create and export what you need in Strata with Flash as the final destination.
Sounds like great news, if you have a PC - but I'm using a Mac. Are there any converters for the Mac? I can open DXF in Illustrator, is this a valid option for conversion?
Sorry, I don't know of any MAC model converters. That doesn't mean there aren't any though. Illustrator is not the answer. I'll do a little research and let you know if I find something. Version 2 will import DXF, but obviously that doesn't help you now.
This might sound like a pain in the ass but i also had the same problem but i figured it out i have a copy of the old amorphium ,which can now be purchased for around 20 bucks, and of course strata 3d and swift. first i made my simple model in strata and saved it as a DXF file and then imported it into Amorphium and then exported it out of amorphium as a 3DS model and voila a solution to the problem. Hope it works for you. http://www.q3s.f2s.com
Thanks! Nice work-around, not really a pain in the ass as I'm getting used to work-arounds. When it comes to 3D, 3rd party Mac software development is definetly off the back. Oh well, everyone will be ported for OSX soon (Maya's first), then it will be another game altogether. Yea...
There always seems to be talk of no converters for Mac. Well the Perfect solution and you can model in it aswell is HexaSuper2. it is a great little subdivision surface and poly modeller than can export to 3DS file format. It can take 3DMF and DXF and I think OBJ...not sure as I only use the other 2 to convert my Pixels3D files. it is cheap as at US$54 and can be found at http://www.HexaSuper2.com has an excellent Manga moe where you trace 2D images and it helps you make em 3D aswell..
Can't recommend this program enough and was the only reason i went ahead with my purchase of Swift3D co i knew I could get my Models into it then.
