Basic Actionscript help please!!!!!!

Two things:

1) Can someone tell me what action scripting I can use and how it must be implemented
in order to fade an object in or out, and also what the benefit is of doing it this way.

2) Can someone tell me how to make a movie clip play inside a single frame, and here as
well could you explain the benefits?

For the fade, just use the properties box of a symbol and set the alpha fade. You will have to motion tween it over a number of frames. This creates the fade effect.
