I think I have caught the animation bug (actually I'm completley hooked). It certainly is a creatives dream and a good diversion from the corporates.

Freehand is okay, it has some 'interesting' ways of doing things. I'd prefer illustrator but one can only afford so much software  I'll buy a scanner next tho!!
