ALPHA GRADIENT IN A MASK

I want to make some text, wich moves over the screen from left to right, disappear behind a mask...that's no problem...my problem is, i want the mask to have an alpha-gradient from one side to the other. So the mask must be solid on one side and gradate to total transparancy on the other side. Is it possible?????

Mask cannot be in gradient.
But you can have alpha layer masked. Therefore, you can put a moving alpha'd down gradient layer over the text, where both of them ask masked. If you animate the gradient layer at a correct speed your text would look like it move in and out of a gradiented mask.
