There is a very cool laser-trail-around-a-circuit-board type effect on the top section of the http://www.estudio.com site. (don't bother if you don't have some kind of broadband connection)
I have seen this on other sites and want to add it to my own repertoire.
Anyone out there got the knowledge? I'm trying to work it out from scratch but someone out there could save me some time I know it...

Yep there are unlimited possibilities with the mask layer. If your on cable check out the use of the one at http://www.o2artwork.com along the middle-top. There are so many things you could do

I can do the lesson that you referd to. How do you create the mask for a thin line to create that laser type effect.
I can mask text and graphics but when I try the thin line it just doesnt work.
Please help.

The trick is using a very thin rectangle. zoom in to 800% - 2000% and then use the rectangle tool
