Thread: JUST discovered that flash done on my mac won't show up anywhere else!!!

I'm sure this question has been posted before but I can't find any of the answers.

I just found out that my Flash movies are not showing up on PCs. What's the solution? Is it in the OBJECT or EMBED codes? Has anyone else had this problem?
They show up fine on my computer but that's because they were created on it.

I've been through all my Flash books but I can't figure it out. Can anyone help?

The pages that don't show are:

http://www.geocities.com/lyoung66/sketchbook.html (follow the Flash Cartoon links)

    and

    http://www.geocities.com/technico_x/somethingflash.html

    Cofused and frustrated,

    Just discovered

This is strange, I have a Mac & PC, and it does show up fine on the Mac. I've had problems going the other way (from PC to Mac) and it had to do with font compatibility problems.

The only thing I can think of is that your file name does not have a file extension at the end of it. For example, if your file is named tiki then you need to rename it to tiki.swf since PCs need that extension in order to know what it is. Make sure you update your html link to look for that .swf file too.

    Hope that helps!

    ARGG!

This is soo annoying. Apparently Geocities is "upgrading their servers" and some of their functions aren't working. I've been chatting and have found that other people are having the same problems with Flash. But what I don't get is if Geo is having server problems, then why can some people still see Flash? Shouldn't it be that NO one can see anthing Flash?

I'll try to use your suggestion once I figure out what it is. I'm still a newbie.

    Hi,
Im on Mac IE5.0 and I can see all Flash except the "bouncing rassler".
I found that theres the /OBJECT missing, but Im not sure if it is the prob.

You should double check all OBJECT / EMBED things of your htmls.

The safest way is to put all Attributes in quotationmarks i.e.:

    ID="rassler" WIDTH="50%" and so on
    and
    PARAM NAME="movie" VALUE="rassler.swf"

    Maybe it helps

I think I found the problem

It's geocities. I've asked around and it doesn't matter if it a Mac or a Pc, IE or Netscape, some people see it and some don't. I'll be moving all my flash to Angelfire until the problem is sorted out. Thanks for all the help!
