What is the industry standard version for flash on the web? Of course we would all love to use 5, but what is the industry standard - 3 or 4?

    puzzled,

I'd probably say 4, it's definatly not 3. 3 had not of the stuff that 4 had, and with 4 is where it really took off on web sites.

I'd say Flash 4 too, but here are the stats so you can decide for yourself

I'm definately going to have to go with 4. Most large companies have their desktops under complete lockdown. IT needs to approve ANYTHING if it's going to get installed, and plug-ins aren't really a priority unless someone tells them it has to be. (We build courses using Flash, so we've had instances where IT had to be told to move everyone to 4. Other than cases like that, it's hard for them to justify their time on a plug-in, even if it's as innocent as Flash.) A lot of times the only reason they'll have Flash at larger places is because it came pre-installed with the browser.

    I'd publish with flash4, if possible ...

Many actionscripts only work if they're published to flash5

Give it another year and 5 will be "it".
