Hello,
I have recently been receiving BACKLASH from our Marketing Higher-ups! A Recent article published by CNN.com staff writer condemning Flash, has caused an uproar about the use of Flash. It seems that in the article, "Flash content is generated by BORED DESIGNERS!" The upper management is using this article (by a STAFF writer, none the less) to condemn our use of Flash and its impact on the company!
IF ANYONE HAS ANY FLASH-SUPPORTIVE ARTICLES, OR SITES CONTAINING ARTCLES PROMOTING FLASH, PLEASE RESPOND! It is crucial to keep Flash alive in this company
Thanks,
Jason

Actually I was bored with Java coding, that is why I'm doing it. Only kidding (sort of). I love Flash but, that's gotta be a really idiotic response from this guy.
Besides, there seems to be 2 types of flash developers, artists who do great graphic work and animation and programmers who want to add some fun to their otherwise technically savy but BORING web sites. (I'm the later).
Macromedia does claim that most of the sites that are updated with flash get lots more hits, etc. Why not show him some of the showcased sites. These arnt just kids writing games here. Show him the big corp sites that use flash. Macromedia should have some docs published on this.

been workin in flash for a while

That article(CNN) uses Macromedia's "site of the day" as an example of lousey Flash designers! This guy (boss) just takes things at face value and runs with it. Yesterday, he praised it, today he says he hates flash. This is all because a stupid article was written by a moron who has a minimum wage staff writing position at CNN and knows nothing, but what he's told about Flash! And this guy(boss) believes it. That's why I'm looking for counter-articles.

Make your boss realize that if these HUGE companies are using flash, then there probably aint that much bad about it. The future is in interactivity.

There's a lot of Flash-bashing going on these days and it's up to us, as designers and programmers, to help people understand when Flash is very useful and when it is not. Flash is not the answer for all client's needs, but it definately increases customer interest in a product and enables a customer to interact with that company/product.
If these guys are marketing people, they should understand this. Especially for marketing products/services, Flash is an unbelievable tool.
It's funny that CNN wrote this article (I think I've also read this) because MSNBC, the #1 news site, uses Flash extensively for interactive information. Show them this Flash done on Pearl Harbor:
http://www.msnbc.com/news/PEARLHARBO...t.asp?0nm=C24J
8 of the top 10 most visited sites use flash in one form or another.
What is your company's business? See if you can find a competitor site that uses flash and do an analysis of it.
I've gone through similar things where I work, and we do software engineering and web development, if that tells you anything. Good Luck!

Flash bad? What the funk was that ignoreamus at CNN smoking? The little b@st@rd is probably just jealous of all the talented developers out there. After all, a five-year old could make a better piece of flash than this little spiteful weasel. What a freakin' jerk.
Oh yeah, and your boss is an idiot for believing little monkeyshaggers like said CNN staffwriter.

Better that I should be a bored designer than a boring corporate automaton with no concept whatsoever as to how to have an original idea. I would, if I were you, not worry quite so much about impressing and/or attempting to enlighten such a pitiful group, but rather, a bit more about searching for employment in an environment more suitable for the outlet of your creativity. Quit your job and go work for someone with some damn sense. Better yet, go work for yourself, and leave the mindless sychophants to fiddle with their Microsoft Powerpoint.

Flash is a tool like any other - it can be misused and underutilized by certain people, and the program takes the blame for their ineptitude. Some people use a wrench to pound in a nail, too.
