    I'm developing a site in which I want to have a flash window, which is almost transparent (cloudy-white see-through colour) so that you can see the image behind it. I think this is a really good and Ive tried fiddling around with alpha setting, but the problem is that the image cannot be a part of the flash file itself.

    you would have to make a background image in the html page and on top the flash...

    Then put this value into the flash html source...

    <param name etc... movie transparent= true

    Hi kimbo,
    dont use html tags in posts, it just dont work. See the result

    aidangibbons,
    you can make a SWF transparent by enabling "html" in the publish settings.
    In the html publish settings choose window mode "windowless transparent".
    When publishing your SWF a html is also published with the right object embedding.

    You can also add the code manually:
    for the object tag
    PARAM NAME="wmode" VALUE="transparent"
    and for the embed tag
    wmode="transparent"

    BUT! Transparency of SWFs only work in InternetExplorer on PC, not with Netscape, not on MAC
