    Uhh...

    So.. I'd recommend getting 'The Bible'....

    Colin Moocks book:: ActionScript The Definitive Guide. It's an O'Reillys book.

    Other than that... read the posts here under XML and at the Were-Here XML forums... that should get you off to a good start.

    Have a look at the tutorials section of FlashKit:

    the following got me started:

    http://www.flashkit.com/tutorials/3r...13/index.shtml

    As well as Flash 5 Magic which is an excellent book in itself has two chapters that use XML & Flash.

    Finally, if you don't mind a bit of self promotion I have a tutorial online for a simple latest news item (similar to the one in my sig)...

    Thanks

    Thanks guys.

    hey tupps. I'd read your tutorial and it helps me a lot. And I have some question regarding this,

    in your tutorial you had written the following codes to create the XML container object:

    newsXML = new XML();
    newsXML.onLoad = ExtractData;
    newsXML.load("news.xml");

    I am not very understand that why the 2nd line of the code should come before the 3rd line, but not the opposite? Shouldn't the XML file to be loaded first before it actually call the function to do something?

    And I try to swap the 2nd and 3rd line, and it works fine.
    Does it means that Flash doesn't read codes in sequence?

    Sengkit,

    I am glad you found my tutorial usefull.

    The second line is a callback routine. Basically it is saying:

    When you have completely loaded the XML file call this routine. When it runs extract data it also passes the XML as a hidden value.

    The only reason I have placed this above the other line is to me it makes more sense to me, but it does not really matter where it is in this example.

    Flash definately does read the lines of code in sequence.

    Thanks

    Luke
