I have a jpg that i am using to make a flare. I tried turing off smoothing but still wiggles only when export. Why is this ? In Flash it loooks an plays great, then you export it, it wiggles.....kinda like heat wiggling an image in the background. I have 3 frames ....first it tints then stretches and then alpha's. I tried it as a symbol (movie) and straight in the movie but same thing happens. I am out of ideas, and do not want to make one in flash cause they cannot look as tight as this image.
    Please help !!!
Would converting it into a PGN help?
AND why does Flash trick you like that. {PLaying fine until you export) It should play just like it will come out.

    Thanks

Scale your image (inside Flash) to 99%. That's all.

    jpg jiggle

hey, did you animate the alpha at all?
I was having the same problem with jpgs jiggling and discovered that when i animated the aplha from 0 to 100 and when it got to 100 it would jiggle. i solved it by only scaling to 99% and that worked. I dont know if your's is the same problem, but maybe when you animate you can avoid putting your sliders to 100% and maybe that should help

Even when i jsut put the jpg on top of my background with no animation to it, you can still see the background wiggle. The jpg is just converted to a movie but no animation is done to it, but it still wiggles.

It looks fine when i play it in Flash , why can't it export it the same way that I am viewing it ? ???????
    Thanks people

    Re: Re: Re: jpg jiggle

Ok it looks like when I stretch or scale the jpg it creates that wiggle. So how can i change the shape of the jpg without this happening ? Should i try making a series of jpgs in Fireworks and then import each jpg ?
all i am trying to do is stretch the jpg and then fade it out. I understand to fade it to 99% now, but the stretch is still an issue.

    Thanks again

Is it the background that's wiggling? and only when you put your jpg on top of it?? maybe we are not understanding the situation. is the background animated at all? if so i would try deleting all the animation on any imported image and then exporting it to see if it still does it. if it does then at least you will have somewhere to start looking for stupid flash glitches

Thanks again JODI for you promt responce,

The background is also animated jpgs. I am going to attempt to recreate the backgound in Flash. an yes the background is what is wiggling !

I am going to recreate the flare in Studio Max ..then export as pgn.
I hope when i recreate the background in flash that will do the trick cause this is a major pain in my arse.
    Thanks again

[i] but the stretch is still an issue.

    Thanks again [/B]
it may be best to just to import a series from fireworks if you can.. one of the biggest drawbacks to flash that ive found is it really sucks to try to do any animation with bitmap(non-vector) images.
If you figure it out be sure to let me know ive had similar problems that i never really figured out.

I don't know if u solved the problem but try these:
    a. From the library panel open the properties of the image and uncheck the Allow Smoothing checkbox. Export and try.
    b. Break apart the image. Try again.
    c. Trace the image. This will definetely do the job cause your image will no longer be a bitmap but a vector graphic.
    d. Tell us what happened

    IM DONE
The issue was not resolved. I tried several different formats from Studio Max 4.0 but same results. The background and effect were both jpgs and bot animated in Flash. I just made a mask for the effect so the effect is not on the area (center) were you would see the wiggle. Not exactly what I wanted but it still looks cool.
Is there a vecor based program to do effects in that Flash can handle ? Discreet Paint ? Photoshop ? Corel ? I have all these but would like to create effects that are manageable for Flash.
    Any suggestions would be nice

Thanks guy for your responces and advice.
